Short Story Saturday: The Glass Case by Kristin Hannah

Title: The Glass Case
Author: Kristin Hannah
Pages: 32 (E-Book)
Source: iBooks (Free)

Summary: April Bannerman is a young mother of three, married to her high school sweetheart & living in the same small town in which she grew up. Although she loves her children and husband, April is plagued by the growing doubt that she has not lived up to her mother's expectations for her---until one day when something terrible and unexpected happens, and April must face the truth about her own life and discover what really matters.

Thoughts: The Glass Case turned out to be an a touching story, with a bit of mystery and lots of emotion. With memories of her past, her mothers expectations of her, and the disappointments she feels she caused, April story evolves as she wonders if maybe her mother was right and there was something bigger and better out there for her. After an unexpected and terrifying event though, April finally comes to terms with her mother's memory and what she really feels about how her life turned out.

While it was such a short story, I was able to connect with April and her feelings well. I wanted to know what would happen next and kept reading the virtual pages as quickly as possible. Emotional and gripping, this was definitely worth the few minutes it took me to read it. This was my first experience reading anything by Kristin Hannah and I definitely want to dive into one her novels someday soon.
